Dansons maintenant! – an installation in a public space
Staged by Fondation Zinsou on 20 containers in the “Champ de foire”, a vast public place in the center of Cotonou, 40 very large black & white and color photographic prints are transforming, transporting and putting visitors in motion.
On site, among these portraits and performance shots of the great figures of african-american dance and of contemporary dance from Africa, six dance companies —Marceline Lartigue, Christine Bastin, Salia Sanou, Marcel Gbeffa, Awoulath Alougbin, Ogu Eru Capoeira— have invited visitors to an artistic face-to-face through performances and workshops for kids and professional dancers.
Over the course of the three-month long “Dansons maintenant!” exhibition, a photography workshop by Antoine Tempé and conferences around the major movements of contemporary dance have been held at Fondation Zinsou’s headquarters.
